There's a time when Apple does it right in several years. Apple never was the one who make the technology first. But Apple almost always the first company which make a technology perfectly usable. This time, Apple made old features that have been in some smartphone coming inside iPhone 7. Those features are water resistant and strong front display glass. Except this time, they made it really really good enough for consumer.
Water Resistant was a feature that has been long enough in smartphone history. It started way before every smartphone become touch capable. Sharp has been developed this water resistant smartphone in Japan before the first iPhone been launched. Then many years after touchscreen smartphone arrived, Sony was the first maker of waterproof smartphone features for their Xperia lines. After that, every smartphone has jumped to make their own waterproof features.
While Apple has just started their water resistant smartphone, Samsung has been awhile making their Galaxy lines waterproofed. Samsung said their phone is waterproof with IP68 rating. Apple is quite humble saying that their iPhone 7 is only water resistant smartphone with IP67 rating on it. While the theory will place IP68 is better than IP67 rating, there are some people who still want to know which one is the best between Samsung and Apple. The result is mindblowing... Here is a video from EverythingApplePro which test how deep will it kill both phone when it submerged in water:
Also, finally on 2017 Apple make their front glass not easily shattered by drop test. Many years android phone has been the best on making the unshattered glass. Samsung even has Research and Development division to test it. Many iPhone until 2016 were only subject to the harshness of drop test. 99% of them were shattered easily on the first front display drop test. But this year is different, iPhone 7 survived on many video of drop test. Apple didn't tell us what technology has been used in it or even what screen material that they use for it but it works great. Here are some videos about iPhone 7/7 Plus drop test:
Overall, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus did a very good job in handling water and also accidental drop. Maybe this year is a good year to own an iPhone? Or you might want to wait until next year which will be the 10th anniversary of iPhone? The choice is yours!
